Bursaries

Bursaries are awarded annually by the Alumni Association to encourage education in nursing. Bursary applications are reviewed by the President and two active members or with the executive. Bursary monies are obtained from the general fund.

HXH Alumni Bursary

Each year Alumni members who are in good standing for one year before the year of application, are eligible for one of two $500 bursaries.

Application for funding must be received in writing and include a general summary of the type of program being enrolled in, maiden name if applicable, and the year of graduation from the Holy Cross Hospital School of Nursing and a summary of anticipated expenses.

Funding may be applied to career workshops, seminars, conferences, etc. provided that the subject material is related to nursing.
Bursary recipients are required to submit a brief summary of the program attended for publication in the Newsletter.

University of Calgary Bursary

In 1996, the Alumni endowed a bursary at the University of Calgary (U of C) to be awarded annually to a nursing student in their third year of studies. The Bursary is managed by the University of Calgary. A report is sent yearly to the Alumni informing us of the recipient and the market value of the Bursary.

If you would like to make a donation in memory of “Holy Cross Alumni,” you can send a cheque payable to “University of Calgary” with memo line “Holy Cross Alumni Association Bursary”
